In Genesis we learn that God formed out bodies from the earth. Our body acts like a temporary house containing our soul and spirit. Below is a declaration and prayer that will help us recognize our carnal desires and break its desires by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord,
I know that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, I ask that you help me lose weight and make healthy choices for my body. Holy Spirit, you are my comforter, not food. No longer will I use my own willpower to control my eating, instead I will use God’s power. I declare that I have self-control and will only consume food that I need, not what I want! I have the energy and enthusiasm today to share with my family and friends. I have the mind of Christ and will only think positive about myself and my body. Thank you Lord, for I am accepted, disciplined, blessed, active, worthy, valued, loved and committed. Lord, I ask for wisdom and clarity and thank you for blessing me and my family with a good health and long life…ALL to YOUR Glory!! Amen!

Submit your body to God:
- 1 Corinthians 6:19 – Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God. You do not belong to yourself for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
- Romans 12:1 – Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.
