Looking Back

Do you ever look back?

It’s important we don’t allow our past to define us but there are times when we need to look back and see how far God has brought us. This past week the Lord has had me looking back at the past year.  When looking back I have been able to see the Lord’s hand so clearly working in my life.  I was able to see how far God has brought me, how much he has grown me and how much his love surrounded and poured out on me during the good times and the bad.  As I look back on 2016 I understand more of God’s love, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.

The Lord wants us ever growing.  Our roots should  be going deeper and deeper every year.  We never reach a point that we stop growing here on this earth.  Each year I pray I come to understand his love more and more.  Understanding that love is what changes us and teaches us how to love also.  I encourage you to look back at this past year and see how much you have grown,  see the hand of God on your life and look to the new year with excitement as to what the Lord is going to do in your life.  I encourage you to sit down and write out your God Focused Goals for 2017 and what you can do to achieve those goals with God’s help.  If this day finds you struggling then I remind you to keep your focus, focus on God no matter what, your going to come out of this season of struggle.  When you come out of this season you will be able to look back and see God’s hand so clearly.

“And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.  May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it.  Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that  comes from God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19)
