What do we all want in this world?

What do we all want in this world? Something worth far more than rubies? The Bible says wisdom is worth far more than rubies & nothing we desire can compare with it.

If each of us were asked, do you want wisdom? I would imagine all of us would agree that wisdom is important. Solomon could have asked for anything & he chose to ask for wisdom. The Bible talks a lot about wisdom. The Proverbs are full of wisdom, James talks about wisdom and today I have been reading in Job where he talks about wisdom.

Wisdom is something I desired. Getting married and having kids young, I used to wonder how am I going to figure all this out. I would read books on mothering, on having a balanced life, on family. I was trying to figure out how “I”was going to do this, I was leaning on my own understanding. There came a time that I was so desperate for answers on how I was to be a wife and mom that I finally turned to the book with the answers, the Bible. I so wish I had done this earlier but I finally did. After reading the Bible for some time I realized I needed to ask God for wisdom. His word says He will give us wisdom, James 1:5, if we just ask. I began asking the Lord. Lord, how do I become the wife Keith needs me to be, He directed me to His word. Lord, how can I teach these girls when I’m young & still learning myself, He led me to His word. More and more He began to open my eyes. The answers are here, the wisdom for this life are available, we just need to ask. Through studying about wisdom I learned some other things. First, it must start with a fear of the Lord, a understanding that He has all the answers, not me. He is in control & I must surrender all to Him. Second, wisdom is something I must continually ask for, it’s not a one time thing. I’ve been led back lately to study wisdom. Here are some scriptures about wisdom.

-Job 28:28 The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.

-Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

-Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord grants wisdom. From His mouth come knowledge & understanding.

-Proverbs 3:13 Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,

-Proverbs 4:7 Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.

-Proverbs 4:11-12 I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble

-Proverbs 8:11 For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it.

-James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

The Bible is full of wisdom. We can live a life guided by wisdom. This is something the Lord has shown me repeatedly and a lot lately. I’m asking the Lord for wisdom and believing He is providing it. If you find yourself like me & have no idea what to do or how “you’re” going to handle a situation, how to navigate this life, how to raise your kids, how to have a successful marriage. Ask the Lord, He will show you, give you wisdom. I’m asking Him again today. Lord help me to navigate this life, I need wisdom. Show me Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen!
