There is a corn field out in front of our house and I can’t help but think of the movie field of dreams when I see it.
We have literally watched this corn grow over the past couple of weeks. It has shot up with all of this rain.
Last year this field grew a different crop, soy beans. The farmer plants what he knows he needs more of. It amazes me that this same soil can produce a different crop year after year. This year there is more ground planted equalling a bigger crop. Jesus spoke in parables to us about sowing and reaping. The ground matters, sowing in good soil.
“But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.””
Matthew 13:8-9, 23 NKJV
Preparing the soil. Our hearts must be good ground. Allow the soil of our heart to be sifted and cleansed of anything that would be bad for the harvest.
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7 NKJV
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Galatians 6:9 NKJV
“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
II Corinthians 9:6 NKJV
The groundwork matters and the seeds planted matters. Let’s sow good seed into the ground and watch God bring the increase, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. When we sow Kingdom seed, we are guaranteed a Kingdom harvest.
I’ve got some kingdom dreams. Dreams of salvation for some I know. I want to plant seeds that will have a lasting Kingdom impact.
Lord, sift the soil of my heart and make good soil out of me so that You can produce a harvest of lasting impact out of me!
