With it being the first of the year I’m trying to take time and look at my priorities and life and ask myself, “Am I striving to live a God first life?” Many years ago the Lord impressed on my heart Matthew 6:33. Seek first, so I look, am I seeking God first? Am I seeking God first in my day, in my marriage, in my parenting, in my finances and my home? These are the areas I try and concentrate on. I’m examining each area and seeing where and what I need to do to make God first because I truly believe God’s word which says when we seek God first that all things will be added to us. I believe when we live a God first life then we don’t have to worry about the rest because He will take care of it. For me these days, this past year have flown by and it’s so easy to get so busy that maybe I’m not giving God his proper place in all areas of my life.
Years ago I was asked to write a devotion for our church on tithing. Through the tithe the Lord taught me about the first and how important giving Him the first is. When we give him the first of our day, our finances, our everything we are telling God He is first in our hearts and lives. I felt the Lord nudge me to share the devotion I wrote about my experience with making God first through the tithe and what it has done for my life. I hope you enjoy it!
Join me in taking time to look at our priorities and asking ourselves, “Am I making God first?”
Have a blessed day,
Michelle Johnson
