Up for the challenge?

This is a sign hanging in our workout room. The other day I got to thinking, am I truly challenging myself when it comes to my spiritual life?

We definitely have to challenge ourself if we want to build muscle. How about our spiritual life? Could this be true in our spiritual life also? If we aren’t challenged then we aren’t changed. I need to constantly be challenged if I want to grow. Just like with a physical muscle. Who has ever started working out, you have started to see a difference in your body, and then life gets busy and before you know it you haven’t worked out in a month, two months, a year! I can guarantee those muscles aren’t the same, your body doesn’t feel the same and you don’t feel as strong. It’s the same way with our spiritual lives. We must work our spiritual life out with consistent bible study, serving and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone to continue growing.

Lately, I haven’t been pushing myself outside of my safe zone. I get comfortable, like being in your favorite chair, it just feels too good so I think I will just stay right here. We need to continually be changing day by day to be more like Jesus. Jesus didn’t settle, He pushed on. We must push ourselves out of our comfort zone. Today I’m deciding to push myself. Maybe you need to also. Are you up for the challenge of getting out of your comfort zone? What is it? What do you feel God calling you to do that maybe you have been a little nervous about?

Lord, help us to push ourselves, challenge ourselves to grow to be more like you. Help us to have the confidence to get out of our comfort zones. Help us to run this race set before us, to persevere, always having our eyes fixed on you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. Thank you for pushing me out my comfortable space…It is so easy to settle for what we have now instead of reach out for God Best
