Sin’s Power IS broken

Reading and studying today about the sanctified life we as believers are supposed to live. Paul was explaining salvation and the freedom it brings to Christians.

“We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.”

Romans 6:6-7 NLT

We were set free, so why do so many continue in sin?

“Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?” Romans 6:1-2 NLT

“Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!” Romans 6:15 NLT

Should we go on sinning? Absolutely not. If we could continue in sin Jesus wouldn’t have had to die.

Jesus died to set us free from the curse of sin which leads to death. He was tempted in every way we are and was our example there is a way out, He is the way!

“Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”

Romans 6:16 NLT

What are you obeying? Gods way or the worlds way. Gods way is righteous living. That simply means doing what’s right.

We can’t continue to live for the world. We are called to be separate. To come out from among them. To be different.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Romans 12:2 NLT

How are we transformed into a new person who thinks differently? Through salvation followed by applying His Word. Reading and knowing His word will transform you.

So I ask, are you being transformed? If not, why not? Are you reading His word? Meditating on it day and night. It is a lamp to guide each step of your life. It will light up the path He wants you to take. As you walk this lit path, His light will shine in and through you for all to see.

We are to look different than the world around us. We have been set apart and must look like it. Christ was in the world but not of the world. We are to be the same, in the world but not follow the ways of the world.

Apply scripture daily to your life, your living, your decisions, every detail of your life and it will transform you. You will begin to think differently and be different.

Can someone who doesn’t know you sense something different about you?

I want my aroma to be Jesus. I’m striving to be different, I want people around me to sense, there’s just something different.

Michelle 🙂
