Prayer…Faith…Believe

Reading about Jesus healing a demon possessed boy in Mark 9 this morning. Jesus had come down the mountain and found commotion going on. They took the demon possessed boy to him, the disciples had been unable to cast the demon out. At the sight of Jesus the demon began fighting and threw the boy to the ground, Jesus rebuked the spirit and commanded it to come out and it obeyed.

The disciples didn’t know why they couldn’t cast the evil spirit out, Jesus had given them that authority. Jesus told them, “this kind can only be cast out in prayer”. He also said, “You faithless people! How long must I be with you until you believe?”

So, it got me to thinking, maybe a lot of problems we face are faith problems or a prayer problem. Do we pray and then follow it with belief? Knowing He will answer our prayers. Do we, like the disciples, have a faith problem or prayer problem? They were trying to fix a problem that could only be fixed with prayers. What problem are you facing that maybe you’ve tried to fix but now realize maybe it’s a faith or prayer problem.

The Bible says the prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective (James 5:16). The Bible says the faith of a mustard seed can move mountains (Matthew 17:20). The Bible says anything is possible if a person believes(Mark 9:23).

Do we believe these scriptures to be true? If we do then there is nothing we can’t face and trust God to take care of. Just believe!

  1. Amen! Funny how I was reading in Matthew this morning and the people believed Jesus could heal them. And because of their Faith Jesus replied accordingly to their Faith. The people didn’t beg, kept asking, but they all knew Jesus could. Where’s is our Faith? After we pray we should be in receiving mode for what we ask according to our Faith.
