Reading about Solomon building the temple this morning. It goes into such detail of how it was to be constructed, the exact measurements, what it would be constructed out of. Every detail was laid out in the plan. I can’t imagine planning, scheduling and organizing such a project. A project that took 7 years to complete. It took focus, determination and well planning to complete the temple.

For a while now I’ve been talking to Lord about going deeper in my bible study. I’ve been praying about how to go about it. Reading this morning I felt the Lord showing me. It’s going to take focus, determination, planning and TIME. Time is something a lot of us struggle with these days. We live in such a fast paced world and we want things done in an instant. I don’t know about you but I find it hard to focus and stay on task sometimes, even for just an hour or two. The Lord is saying, “it’s gonna take much more time than that.” Nothing great happens overnight, right? You couldn’t construct a temple of that magnitude and beauty overnight. Great things take time. I feel the Lord asking, “Michelle, are you willing to put in the time? Every day? Are you willing to give some things up so you can focus and put in the time?” Honestly, it scares me to commit and say, yes Lord I will. What is He going to ask me to give up? My rest time, my exercise time, my Facebook time, my fun time? Then I think, Jesus gave up His life for me! What is there here that I can’t give up for Him?

We are now the temple of the Holy Spirit. We must build and maintain the temple by being in His word, being in continual prayer with the Father. We need to strive to go deeper in study, deeper in our relationship with Christ. We must be willing to sacrifice time or whatever is needed to take that next step God wants us to take.

I don’t know if you’re like me and God has been nudging you but if so, make out a plan and be obedient daily to do the work it takes. Write it down and stick to it. Set aside your time. Give up something and replace it with more study time and let’s see what God teaches us and shows us through this time with Him.
