How many times have we given our kids a gift and they just hold it and never open it. I can tell you that I can’t remember a time that I have given my kids a gift that they have not opened. I know my children, I know who they are and what they like, so of course they know I’m probably going to give them a good gift and they’re usually anxious to open it.
How many of us are holding a gift from God and have yet to open it? We have yet to use it? 1 Corinthian‘s 12:7 says “A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.” He has planted gifts in each of us. Verse 11 says “He alone decides which gift each person should have.” Just like us with our kids, He knows us, He’s a good parent that has planted something special in each of His children.
The question to ask yourself…. have I opened that gift? Do I know what my spiritual gift is? Am I using the gift I have been given?
How differently would our world and churches be if we would all open our gifts that God has given us? His design and desire for us is for us all to walk the path that He has for us and to use the gift that He has given us so that we can be a fully functioning body of Christ. It says when one part of the body suffers, we all suffer. Right now I believe we are a suffering body because so many people walk around listening to the devil tell them there is nothing good about them. I know, I’ve been there and listened to the lies of the enemy. Listen to your Father, your loving parent, He says He has put something special in us. We are special, loved, cherished, chosen, anointed child of God. There is so much good in us because we have a good Father. Look for yourself, study 1 Corinthians 12 & 13, ask God to reveal your gifts to you and then accept & claim the gift He has given you.
I pray that if you don’t know your gifting that this post gives you excitement, like a child, to open the gift God has given you.
