Not too long ago I took my daughter to the eye doctor. I decided since we were there I might as well ask him about my lazy eye. He told me that my lazy eye could be from straining and that I probably needed to have my eyes checked, also. So before I knew it I was in the chair having mine checked and we ended up both walking out with a prescription for glasses.
The funny thing is that I had no idea that I needed my eyes checked nor that I needed glasses. I had no idea my eyes were not seeing correctly. My eyes were constantly straining to see clearly but they still were not.
This morning I have been studying in several books of the Bible, both talking about and describing the end times for believers and unbelievers. My thought as I have been reading is, Lord, I pray my eyes are open to see clearly during these times. The Bible is clear that many will be deceived. We must have spiritual eyes to see the schemes of the enemy for what they are so that we don’t fall into his trap.
When we were in the doctors office the doctor asked me if I had been going for my routine eye exams. I told him, no, that we didn’t come for routine eye exams. Had I been coming in for routine exams I would’ve known this before this point. See the problem with that is sometimes with our spiritual lives if we don’t regularly have our eyes checked, if we don’t regularly check our heart, if we don’t regularly read the Bible to know what it says if, we don’t regularly spend time with God we will get to a point where we don’t even know that there’s a problem with us. We have to regularly check ourself. Am I doing the things that I know I need to be doing to grow myself as a Christian? Am I seeing clearly? Or is my vision blurry?
I pray we all take the time for regular spiritual checkups!
Lord, give me spiritual eyes to see clearly!
